My daughter's center birth was my inspiration.

"Two of my three children were born out of the hospital--one at a birth center and the other at home. I wanted the freedom to move around, instead of being tethered to a monitor. I only wanted people around that I knew and trusted. And, I wanted to birth on my own terms, including a water birth if it felt right.

Of the three experiences, my daughter's birth at a birth center was the most satisfying. Everything was ready for me. I didn't have to buy birth supplies, or have a tub set up in my bedroom. While I was laboring, there were no dirty dishes in the sink, toys on the floor or dust bunnies under the furniture to distract me. Before, during and after the birth, I could focus on relaxation.
